Job Title: Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA)

Position Summary: The Medical Assistant will support nursing staff and providers in the provision of patient care; to include recording vital signs, discussing chief health concerns, performing testing, and assisting with procedures and documentation as required. Phlebotomy skills are required as well as basic word processing and computers skills.

Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

  • Uses good judgment when providing patient care.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent patient care information to assure patient rights are protected.
  • Observes courtesy standards through use of verbal amenities, pleasant facial and body expressions and pleasant voice tone when in contact with co-workers, providers, patients and visitors.
  • Communicates appropriately and clearly to patients and co-workers.
  • Works effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.
  • Maintains composure when confronted with job stress or emergency situations.
  • Adapts well to change in the work place.
  • Consistent and concise lines of authority and responsibility are maintained.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patients, staff and department information at all times.

Knowledge , Skills & Abilities:

Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.

Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, patients, and the general public.

Must be flexible, demonstrate initiative and have a pleasant attitude.

Must be knowledgeable of medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines.

Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.

Must have effective verbal and written communication skills.

Must possess typing skills and general computer experience.

Education & Experience :

Must have a Certificate or an Associate s Degree in Medical Assisting from an accredited Medical Assisting Program in the State of South Carolina

Minimum of at least six months to one year experience as a Medical Assistant.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
